Is it just me, or has Hotmail suddenly got much better about trapping spam? I used to get about 6 or 7 spam messages a day in my Hotmail inbox, but in the last three weeks there has been nothing at all.
The volume of junk mail hasn’t decreased. I’m still getting the same number of messages, but now every one of them is getting routed straight into my “Junk” folder, and is automatically deleted after a week. I haven’t noticed any real email disappearing into the void, either.
With regard to Hotmail and SPAM, I just checked my Hotmail account and found 350 SPAM emails received since September 7 in my junk mailbox. That’s more than 30 per day. However, there were NO junk emails in my Inbox. Why? Because I’m using Howmail’s “white list” feature: only emails from folks in my address book are allowed to reach my Inbox.
Just for grins, I will send to you, as a separate email, the “Subject” lines of the junk mail. How about starting a campaign with our elected officials to do something about SPAM? Once a week several thousand of us should send a list of this type to our Congressmen and Senators.

Here’s the “subject” list referenced in my previous email (if the text box is big enough):

Thanks for the list, Dave, but I’ve deleted them from your comment. I’d prefer that Google doesn’t associate all of these terms with my site.
