It took over my whole life for about two months. Loved the action, loved the story.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>TV:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/tv\/12_monkeys\/s01\"><i>12 Monkeys<\/i><\/a> season 1: Entertaining enough that I&#8217;ve continued with season 2.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/tv\/westworld\/s01\"><i>Westworld<\/i><\/a> season 1: Very good! Just as Jonathan Nolan&#8217;s show <i>Person of Interest<\/i> looked at the intersection of surveillance and AI, and tried to figure out what the endgame was, with <i>Westworld<\/i> he looks at video games and AI and speculates about where that could go. It made me think a lot about the kind of games I enjoy playing, and the paths I like taking through them.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/tv\/marvel_s_iron_fist\/s01\"><i>Iron Fist<\/i><\/a> season 1: Bad, for all the reasons you&#8217;ve probably already heard about.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Films:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/hell_or_high_water\"><i>Hell of High Water<\/i><\/a>: good, cautiously paced, tense, thoughtful<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/hardcore_henry\"><i>Hardcore Henry<\/i><\/a>: bonkers in a good way<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/mechanic_resurrection\"><i>Mechanic: Resurrection<\/i><\/a>: bigger in scope and budget than the first one, but with less heart. Some amazing action, though.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/ghost_in_the_shell_2017\"><i>Ghost In The Shell<\/i> (2017)<\/a>: visually spectacular but dramatically flat<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/ghost_in_the_shell\"><i>Ghost In The Shell<\/i> (1995)<\/a>: really weird and interesting<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/the_fate_of_the_furious\"><i>Fast and Furious 8<\/i><\/a>: double-plus bonkers, again in a good way<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/guardians_of_the_galaxy_vol_2\"><i>Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2<\/i><\/a>: fantastic, although it doesn&#8217;t get better than dancing Groot in the opening scene.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/jack_reacher_never_go_back\"><i>Jack Reacher: Never Go Back<\/i><\/a>: sure, whatever<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/alien_covenant\"><i>Alien: Covenant<\/i><\/a>: fine, but predictable<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/hunt_for_the_wilderpeople\"><i>Hunt for the Wilderpeople<\/i><\/a>: offbeat, funny and sweet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Books:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/234352.Runaways_Deluxe_Vol_1\"><i>Runaways vol 1<\/i><\/a> by Brian K. Vaughan, Adrian Alphona, and Takeshi Miyazawa: outstanding<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/29475447-a-closed-and-common-orbit\"><i>A Closed And Common Orbit<\/i><\/a> by Becky Chambers: quiet sequel to <i>The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet<\/i>. Good, but didn&#8217;t leave me with quite the same fuzzies. Feels like a side quest.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/30842275-the-unbeatable-squirrel-girl-volume-5\"><i>The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl vol 5: Like I&#8217;m The Only Squirrel In The World<\/i><\/a> by Ryan North, Erica Henderson et al.: still good!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/149033.Exit_Voice_and_Loyalty\"><i>Exit, Voice and Loyalty: Responses to Decline in Firms, Organizations, and States<\/i><\/a> by Albert O. Hirschman: amazing. I&#8217;ve been talking everyone&#8217;s ears off about this. Written in 1970, it&#8217;s short but very insightful, with tons of relevance for modern politics, customer relations, economics, and employment.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/29237211-saga-vol-7\"><i>Saga<\/i> vol 7<\/a> by Fiona Staples and Brian K Vaughan: <i>Saga<\/i> has never really been sunshine and puppies, but this volume is really dark and sad.
