Also, we can usually tell by the smell of their breath and body odour when they&#8217;re about to fall ill.)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No,&#8221; Alex said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Well it certainly <em>smells<\/em> like you farted.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I didn&#8217;t fart&#8230;I <i lang=\"en-sco\">pumped<\/i>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You did what?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I <i lang=\"en-sco\">pumped<\/i>.  A fart goes like, &#8216;brrrp&#8217;, and a pump goes like, &#8216;pffft&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ohhhkay.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d never heard of the distinction before, but since then, we&#8217;ve had this definition confirmed by a number of sources around Edinburgh.
