Their quarters rapidly become a stew of filth, misery, and suffering animals.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s an odd, disturbing, and pitiable pattern of behaviour.  But as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunpig.com\/martin\/archives\/2004\/11\/26\/the_singing_branson\/\">Singing Branson<\/a> proved, nothing is too off-beat for the tacky gift shops of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/traveler\/guide\/eastbay\/neighborhoods\/piedmont.shtml\">Piedmont Avenue<\/a>.
